Ennius E. Bergsma

Ennius was born in the Netherlands and came to the United States in 1973 to attend Harvard Business School. Upon graduation in 1975 he joined McKinsey& Company in New York where he became head of the Firm’s Corporate Finance Practice in 1988. In that capacity he initiated and oversaw the production of his first book, “Valuation”, which has sold more than a million copies. He and his wife Judy bought Round House from Jack Larson in 1989. Growing up in the Netherlands, gardening was very much part of his upbringing. In addition, his father’s enthusiasm for photography and photo editing proved a solid foundation for managing and editing the large photo files that he generated with his increasingly sophisticated cell phones over the last 15 years, the basis for this book. Writing numerous client reports and articles as management consultant, provided the training for writing and editing this book.
Over the last 33 years we have been privileged to build on Jack’s brilliant vision and to create this gorgeous version of Round House and its gardens with his support. In the process we learned more about design, construction, and gardening than we ever expected. I hope this book imparts some of this knowledge as well as the joy we felt living this adventure.
